Power outage voltage converter
So far very happy with this voltage converter. I am using it for powering my house from my inverter power plant which only puts out 120 volts. This converter will get me 120/240 and a neutral in the middle. Most inverter powerplants are only 120 volt. This makes it easy to simply get my house going even my 240 volt loads.

Unable to use as shipped with EU plug. Why would you ship an EU plug to Ireland?
Split phase transformer.
Bought this so i could make a split phase transformer 120/240 to use with my 4000w 120v inverter generator. It does work but you have to rewire the transformer so that the center tap becomes neutral and grounded and either rewire plugs or ditch them completely and hard wire everything. I think that the 5000w might be misleading its more like a 2500w autotransformer where you take 2500w 120v x 20.8a to create 2500w 120v x 20.8a which is in series with the 120v input from the main to create 5000w 240v x 20.8a. 41.6 amp will enter the box but only 20.8a is used to boost the voltage to 240. So if used as a split phase transformer you will only have 2500w 20.8a max on the second generated leg but full amps on the one from the power source. I'm not even sure it can do that much because with 2000w 240v heater the voltage drops to 220v.

ONE YEAR review!
Having used this one for about a year - stepping down from 220 to 110v - in my experience, it works great. It's reasonably well built (of course, I opened it and inspected it before entrusting my devices and my home's safety!). There are a few soldering points that could have been cleaner, but nothing is outright loose or cold-soldered. The transformer is toroidal, machine-wound, of course. The voltage readings are close enough (there is a way to calibrate, but it's very rough tuning, which I did anyway against my Fluke). One other thing I wished it had from the factory, which I added, was a bug screen. I hot-glued some on the inside for added safety. Just to add, in case it's not self evident: this is a voltage converter and it does NOT convert frequency so be sure your appliance can take both 50/60hz as typically 220-240v comes at 50hz and 110-120v is produced at 60hz.

Good Voltage Converter/Transformer
Bought this item in June 2026 and worked as it is intended for a 220V kitchen appliance from Asia. It has 2 sockets for 110 Volts & 2 for 220 Volts. No noise with with LED input/Output voltage Indicators. Seems very good workmanship and quality.
Quality Issues
This product was used once and the screen that monitors voltage just popped out and fell inside the machine. Poor quality and the attention to a detail like that is simply inexcusable in my opinion.
There's a 110 VAC or 240 VAC switch in the back of the item.
Works perfectly. The price is excellent. This device is rugged and works as advertised. I use this with my Ecoflow power station that I bought overseas. I have the 230 VAC version. In the US, We use 110 VAC. So this Transformer works perfectly at dropping the higher voltage to the lower voltage while still keeping a pure sine wave. I am Very happy with this product. This is both a step up and step down transformer.

bought this to run with the new 6000w 240v solar it would allow me to get 240v split phase output. But was not able to even use it because the inverter failed after 3 days and still waiting to get a ticket reply on this unit. I hope the brand will allow a return on it

I am so pleased with this product. I moved to PT from the US and wanted to keep some of my very pricey appliances, including a Breville Touch espresso machine and a Roborock vacuum. Best price for the features on the market (that I could find at least). Works well and the voltage display is cool for me as an engineer. May not be useful for others. That breaker on the front-right is also sort of the on and off switch. So if I want to give any critique, it would be that it should better have an actual on/off switch. The whole transformer is also a bit bigger than my previous model. But no problem.

Bought this transformer for my Japanese ricecooker and griddle. After 2nd use, the transformer stopped working (something inside was malfunctioning and it would no longer turn on). Ricecooker also broke so I had to buy a new one. Never again.
Just a working man
It works pretty great I was using it to charge my Nissan leaf and for some reason it just stopped charging then I smell the smell and I think the cut on and off switch is burnt out so yeah but other than that it was working great for about three days then it just maybe just a defective part but the overall quality of it was pretty good I just hate that that happened

This device works.... but, if in the U.S., you have to purchase separately an adapter to hook up a U.S. 240 plug to it. I believe the 240w is a EU plug or something like that.

Voltage losses
220v in gives only 100v out. 240 in gives just about 120. Lots of waste heat and noise. There are many others available that do what they state, this one is off and unreliable, like most tools.

Big improvement
These newer transformers are a huge improvement over the previous versions in every way. Unfortunately, I bought 5 of the previous ones less than a year earlier and one is already going bad.
Works okay most of the time
These transformers are finicky. They power switch often takes multiple attempts to stay on. Sometimes, they just turn off while in the middle of using it, despite the appliance being 1/2 to 2/3 the rated power handling of the transformer. The newer replacement transformers are far superior to these. Disappointed!
