This has worked well for us. It is portable which is important as we need to move it to keep it in the shade. we've used it three times for 100 lb+ hogs and have no doubts it can hold heavier animals. Better option than a hitch mounted one as we can leave it in place and had previously experienced failure (bending) of a hitch mounted one used on a slight incline.

Surprisingly sturdy at this price point

I have not used this for hanging game ... yet. It was purchased as a hoist to extract a pit-less well pump from the well. It is very easy to assemble. It is very sturdy. and the winch appears to do what I need it to do. For the price, I would definitely recommend this product for game, or well pumps.

Heavy Duty Deer Hoist Built for Serious Loads

I received the Tripod Deer Hoist 500 lbs Load Capacity and it appears to be a strong piece of equipment for hunters. The tripod frame feels sturdy and designed to support heavy weight when field dressing game. The design allows you to lift and hang game safely which makes processing much easier. The tripod legs provide stability and the lifting mechanism works well for raising the load. For hunters who process their own deer or large game, this looks like a useful and durable tool. Good value.

Good value, minor cosmetic issues, nice winch though

The Tripod Deer Hoist is very nice indeed. The material used seems to be good quality, and it does have a nice height as well. The tripod came well packaged, and has basic instructions for assembly. Overall weight is not bad, and the easy lock pins make make putting it up and taking down a breeze. The 600lb hoist is also a nice feature with double locking cam for safety. Only downside: several of the leg poles had paint scraped off the bottoms, and the welds on the top plate look really bad too, but it is holding and seems solid. Perfect for hunting season or anything you need to hoist up as well. Overall, this is a good value for money, few minor blemishes with the paint and the welds could have been a bit more quality / professional looking.

"Not For Lifting Humans" *Dreams Officially Crushed

So, it tells you to read the instructions carefully, to avoid serious injury, and then the instructions are crap. Plan on taking some of it apart after you put it together wrong, to get in the right place. Might help to line the leg that holds the crank up with the pulley. You're going to need tools. You will also need some heavy duty stakes, as it has holes for them, but not the stakes. *Eye Roll Be careful with the excess cable loosening up on the reel, as it can get caught in the gears and get frayed (got the T shirt). It's much bigger than I expected (that's what she said). There's some sloppy craftsmanship. Almost looks like holes were drilled in the wrong places, and filled back in with something? The quality isn't anything to write home about, BUT...It does the job, and I think the price is fair for what you get. A brand big brand name stand like this would be considerably more, I'm sure. I'll call it a solid budget option and 4 stars for now.
