Great quality product

Purchased this a few months ago. It’s a very well made product. (Upon getting it and seeing its quality, I wished I’d bought the one with the extra adaptability.)

Crooked platform

Does what it's supposed to do, just not very accurately. It puts the platforms under the grinding wheel and holds them securely, but the adjustable platform was welded a little crooked so it'll throw you off if you use its edges to follow as you grind a skew or any other flat tool.

Decent clone of systems costing much more

It definitely does the trick, a very close copy of the name brand competitors. But the instruction manual is rudimentary and you will learn more about the installation process and proper alignment from good online videos. No obvious manufacturing defects or issue so far. I put it under a Rikon 80-805 8” low speed grinder with upgraded wheels, Norton 80, CBN 180, for a very easy to use system, once I got the minor issues worked out. I bought the grinder stand, as well, to mount it all on. The bolts that came with the stand were far too short to reach through the plywood base and riser blocks needed to get the tool system aligned and stable under the wheels. The local True Value did not have any long enough, either. Ended up ordering stainless 80 mm M10 bolts and nuts online to make everything fit right. Now a newbie woodturner is learning how to sharpen! Sharp tools male it easier!

Works ok

It’s basically OK, I use it multiple times a day because I turn a lot of wood and use it for my lathe chisel sharpening, it is a little temperamental, and takes some work to make it usable, so if you’re a beginner at woodworking, I would suggest a wolverine or tormek system

This is not a big problem but shows a bit about the over all quality. Only other complaint is the tightening of the plate support - not quite as well as all the others. These gadgets are usually designed to catch gullible woodturners but this version actually works. Well packaged, strong construction. Easy to set up. Easy to use, acurate repeatable grind angles and shapes. Highly recommend this jig for the workshop.

Cheap, and it shows

It's okay, but only okay. The lever to lock it in place moves the position of the rest so it's a pain to get setup accurately. If you are looking for something cheap to get an okay job done it's fine, but the price reflects the quality

Perfect copy of the pro-grind system, very close to the Oneway Wolverine + Vari-Grind for less than half the price ! Highly recommended, especially if you need to sharpen gouges and wood turning tools ! I replaced the plastic handles by metal ones I found on AliExpress for less than 2€, making it the best and cheapest sharpening system for bench grinders.

New sharpening system that so far is working well.

As others have mention, it does take a little time figuring everything about this system out. Setup was fine, but just learning how to sharpen with it was a bit different. However the more I get it out and use it, the better I am getting at it. The sharpener comes with what they call a tool rest bar, which helps guide you, so that you know how much to grind off while you are sharpening. That's very different than what I am use to, and working with it has been a sort of "trust the process" kind of thing. When I try and change things up and do it the way I think it should be done, I don't get the results I'm looking for, but again, that's because I'm use to a different sharpening system. When I finally just follow the guides, it works and my tools come out sharp and looking much better. It does help to look up some videos online and see how other people sharpen with it. That helped a lot when I was learning to use this. So if you're unsure if this system will work for you, do a search of some videos of it in use and it explains a lot.

Great system for the price point

Great sharpening system for the price point! I was told to only get the poplar and more expensive system to sharpen my lathe tools. This functions very similarly and for just a hobbyist turner is great! Not a single complaint! I haven’t used all the functions (tool rest) as I don’t have a need for it just yet, but do like the multi angle grinding system, the platform, and the miter sliding system very much. Easy to set up on my slow speed grinder and can make consistent grinds!

Sturdy jig, definitely need some space in your shop

This grinding sharpening jig is definitely sturdy and has several attachments to do various tool types. The only thing I noticed is that if your shop is small or a bit cramped you might find this to get in the way or need to remove it. This is a great help to get consistent sharpness on your tools versus only doing hand held positioning.

It's a sharp deal

You may not know but it's taken me a while to do this review, I'm not the type to open the box and write an imaginary review, I just hadn't gotten my grinder set up yet. Well now I do, so I dug out my turning tools and regular chisels and got to work. It's a pretty easy setup, nothing major in the way of glitches along the way. And setting up the different configurations is reasonably easy too. I'm sure this thing will go together the more often I reassemble it, but it was pretty quick to get done from the get-go. The parts and pieces all seem to be of good quality and feel sturdy, all the welds are tight, etc. And then I got to the difficult part, I put my wood chisel on, dull enough that it would've splintered butter rather than cutting it. This was pretty straightforward, then came the turning chisels, now I encountered a learning curve. Or rather an UNlearning curve, it's a bit different than when I was grinding "by the seat of my pants". Now I have to conform to the guide, but it didn't take long to relearn. Now if you have difficulty sharpening these types of tools by hand then this is a great value for you, it honestly did up my game in this area. Would I buy this again? Yes…

Vari grind

Im pretty new to the wood turning game so still learning. I bought a top name brand sharpening jig and had a hard time keeping tools consistently sharp. Seen this one on the brand and tried it out. Hands down better in every way. For a third of the price I got all the jigs for every tool and with easy to understand instructions. My tools have never been sharper

Multi-Grind Sharpening System

This was a great buy, very easy to setup and use. However, the platform rest is not welded straight so I need to cut it off and re-weld it so its parallel with the griding wheel and level with the bench.

This is a well built system, but the instructions are not very clear or helpful. I would give it 5 stars if not for the instructions. It is a good value and works well once you get it set up and a little learning curve to set each phase up.

Very usable but could be better quality

The welds could be better. Parts could be more squarely aligned when they are attached. But the price is awesome for how many accessories and different types of sharpening jigs and guides you receive. Everything works great. It was very well packed. The instructions are pretty good but could use more instruction on how to achieve the various types of grinds. The metal quality is pretty good. Love the built in two inch and one point five inch guide blocks. The clamping alignment for the sliding bars could be improved with higher quality alignment. If the welds and metal alignment on the welding had been better it would have been given five stars.

Good guide to help sharpen lathe tools.

Great sharpening guide for the price. Instructions were easy to follow and setup was pretty easy. Changing the holders from one wheel to another is very quick and easy to swap. Build quality is very robust. Very satisfied with the rubber used on the locking handles. The spindle tool holder only has 3 detents to set the angle. Would be a touch more convenient with 5 settings. Using the guides feel solid and my sharpening results show it.

Why didn't I buy one of these sooner?!? Item came in a large box, packed well for shipping, with no damage. I make a lot of things on my lathe, and spend a fair amount on replacement blades for my lathe tools. Now, thanks to the Pro Grind System, I can sharpen my own tools and save a bunch of money! Not going to lie here... Even with the "easy to follow" instructions it took me a while to figure out how to use this sharpener. There are a lot of pieces that go together depending on what/how you are trying to sharpen. But, once I found a tutorial and watched it, things became much simpler. This really is a very solidly built system. When sharpening my lathe tools the "micro bevel block" screws down onto my tool and holds it firm and steady to allow for precise sharpening. Since setting up the system onto my grinder I have put nearly razor sharp edges on all my lathe tools and chisels. Once assembled onto your 6"-8" grinder, the sharpening system is fairly easy to use, and has several attachments for all your tools sharpening needs. If it's got an edge this system will sharpen it, and it's so nice to be working with consistently sharp tools. It's small enough to fit in my tight…

Length adjustment variation

When you tighten the long bar wth the levers, it move about 1/8 inch and changes the bevel angle you are aiming for. I need to use a small locking plier against the frame to stop this movement. I don’t know it this is typical for this type of jig or just the design.

Fit well with solid construction

There are a lot of pieces to this thing, but after you get it setup, it works really well. Very solid construction. Fit onto my Ryobi grinder with no issues. I would recommend for people who need extra support with fine tuning their tools.

Waiting on my grinder

I bought a bench grinder the same time I bought this and it didn't work. The brand is doing nothing about it. So I will review this and the grinder at 0 stars as motivation to respond... It's been over a week with no response... Will update if something changes.
