Great post bases for the price

Very nice post bases. Comparable to the Simpson ones but at a much better price. They come with all of the necessary hardware to mount to wood as well as the post to bracket bolts and decorative washers. The finish seems very durable.

These are very strong anchors. I wanted to use some 1/2 inch L shaped concrete anchors instead of the anchors that came with it. Drilling some 1/2 inch holes was extremely difficult in that stainless. It would be nice if the bottom plate and the square plate came with additional holes for the 1/2" anchors; so you could pick that or use the anchors that came with the kit.

These brackets are fantastic, stronger than Simpson by far. I do suggest using the redhead brand sleeve anchors for anything structural, very easy to work with.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT

These look amazing. and then disappoint all the way. absolutely no post stiffness whatsoever. photo when I bought it showed 4 stainless concrete bolts per saddle. Delivery was only 2 bolts, with a mounting plate system that together are woefully undersized for a 6x6 post. ended up with a pile of bent scrap stainless metal for all my time and money. Amazing idea. Terrible execution. Biggest Disappointment

Very good product! Notice; it must be reduced the measurements on the post 8x8 to get a nice wooden dripp edge and get the water out in-between wood and metal, every post and beam timber builders knows!!!!

the quality of the units from the brand was great, price was better than i expected, made from better material than the other well known brand i was required to use on the first phase of the project. being made from stnls steel vs galv'n steel made these units far better.

Great design...non-standard hardware

I love the solid feel of these post brackets. The hidden design for the concrete anchors is great and it helps protect the bottom of the post (it rises about 3/4 of an inch above the ground). But...I am taking away 1 star for the hardware. The concrete anchors aren't standard size for North America (3/8 rotary bit it too small, 1/2 inch much to big). NP, but it means I had to get some from my hardware store. The attachment of the side walls to the posts is another area where I didn't even attempt to use the hardware. It comes with 8 inch threaded rod - that means you need to drill perfectly 4 holes from one side to the other. So, my solution - construction screws.

Great post bases at a price that can't be beat

I didn't need stainless for my application but the price for stainless was better than the main name brand in galvanized that has a monopoly on bracket hardware everywhere else. The brackets came with a massive bag of Philips head stainless hardware that I ended up not using as I wanted structural screws/lags to anchor into the wood and larger (company name I won't use) concrete screws to lock the base plate to the foundation. These are all laser cut from the factory and covered in a protective film if you need the shiny finish. They shipped in an extremely well padded box with each piece of each 2-part bracket being individually wrapped. Post base has a cover plate that further lifts the posl off of the ground so factor that into your overall post height. I deducted one star on ease of use as I wanted to use standard 1/2" concrete screws and anchor bolts but these base plates have a ~5/16"-3/8" hole (probably metric) to accommodate the hardware that shipped with the plates. (I opted not to use.) Stainless is notoriously difficult to drill through and I burned up several step bits to add center holes to 20 base plates. These are a fraction of the price of the name brand galvanized ones. The edges are sharp and it took me an hour to pull the plastic off of them. I bought a second set for future use.

8x8 post base

These were ordered due to the cost of name brand versions costing more per piece than I was getting for 4... So the problem is the hardware included is trash. Expected not to use that so no loss there. I wish they would drill or cut the holes larger to fit a normal sized 1/2" or 5/8" anchor bolt since that is what is truly needed here. I ended up drilling the two holes larger for the back up plate and cutting the slot larger to fit a 1/2 anchor bolt and these worked great. Being stainless, they are a pain to drill through, but doable with lots of pressure and some cutting oil. Used a fiber disc to open the slot bigger on the post base since the drill bit would just catch the edges of the slot and bend it violently. Overall, the price was good and everything came packaged well. Threw away the "hardware" included. Wish there was also an option for larger beam sizes including sizes for rough cut lumber.

Design and Build

For North American lumber 8X8, one need to plane down 3/16 " on one side to fit while allowing 1/4 inch extra extension on the one side. We still appreciated the product. Good quality and price point. We would buy again for our next job.

8x8 Galvanized Post Brackets

Great functioning bracket with a very cost effective price. A lot of parts and instructions were a bit difficult to interpret. Instructions are good for a trades person but me be a challenge for a homeowner.

Great Bracket worked and looks great. Only problem was anchor bolts. Were some oddball size not SAE or metric and could not find concrete bit to match size and the bolts were too long and nuts very sloppy on threads and was worried they would strip out so I bought some US made anchor bolts.

Stainless steel 6x6 post base

These worked great. Good quality and adjustable. The hardware included is definitely on the light side, so I upgraded that for the most part. All in all, I’m pleased with this purchase and would buy them again.

Great quality in stainless steel, not galvanized. Packaged nicely. I wish embed bolts were larger diameter. I will try them out. They shorted me a mounting plate, still missing.
