I had the good timing to order this "little monster" to a really nice price. I got it some days ago and the work to turn an unused flange fitting to my Blomqvist lathe was fairly quick done. The specs for runout for a 6" is 0.08 mm and I measured 0.04 mm total runout with a 12 mm centerless ground steel shaft. I bought this chuck mainly for holding thinwalled rings and very short tubes. The entire chuck was disassembled and washed clean, sharp edges were softened. Prior to reassembly way oil was used onto all surfaces. I am impressed by the very good runout achieved and this is really high value for spent money.

Had to rethread to install screws

The chuck seems solidly made. When I went to mount the provided mounting plate using the provided screws they wouldn’t match up. I tried every combination of screws in each hole and turned the plate completely around. The end result is I retapped the threads and used better screws to get it aligned. Works good now

Not good right out of the box, but can be fixed.

6 Jaw chuck did fit my lathe with camlock D1-4. It came so dirty and didn't like to move smooth. Had to take it apart, clean every part. Debur it, rework it. Grease and oil. Cut down the plastic back plate because it was touching the gears. Took me 2 hours. Now it is a good chuck with 0.05mm runout

Nicely made but needs some tlc before use

Very accurate, probably CNC made but like most products, loaded with grinding dust and grit and needing deburring of the many sharp edges. For the price, simple disassembly and flushing with solvent, and some judicious attention with files and stones is a small disadvantage. Afterward it works a treat.

The chuck is at a excellent price point but the quality lets it down some what it had to be completely disassembled and de-burred and washed out to remove grinding particles. Once that was done and reassembled correctly all is good and I look forward to many years of use.

Good value for the money.

This chuck centers excellent and furthermore the already mounted back flange has the same fitting as my Swedish built BLOMQVIST BSN600 benchtop lathe main spindle. I bought this far to large chuck as I sometimes have use for the large capacity and already have used it, see photo. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

the chuck comes with so much swarf in side it it had to be completely stripped and cleaned once all cleaned and lubed up it works great if my apprentice did not clean up job I would say something hope it lasts a while as it does the job really good cannot complain

Quite good for the price

This chuck was stiff on arrival from leftover machining dust. I disassembled it (easy to do), cleaned all the parts, and reassembled with super lube. The unit is now nice and smooth. Accuracy with a 1/2 in pin gauge chucked is around .001", which is in the same ballpark as the lathe spindle (12x35 Grizzly), so hard to fault the chuck for this application. It was best at one location, so I put timing marks on that position. The unit has a nice range with bolt-on reversible jaws, so very handy for grabbing tubing or other hollow objects.

I was disappointed how rough the action was out of the box. Although it was very well oiled externally, when I disassembled it to determine why it was so rough I found surface rust on the scroll and the bottom of the jaws. After removing the rust and lubercating internally and softening rough edges with 2000 grit sandpaper it operated more smoothly. It runs true and I would probably buy it again. Just a little bit disappointed in the initial quality out of the box.

Came in with smashed box and had been retaped, problem with the shipper not the brand. Bolts for backing plate were missing, once again I believe because of the broken box. Chuck itself seems to be fairly well made and heavy, jaws are a good fit. Very gritty so had to take apart and clean before use. Mounted and tried it, and T.I.R. was.0075". Set it up and did a minor grind to the jaws and have it to.002" T.I.R. Will run it for a while to loosten it up and then final grind it. I have had to do this with others too. Seems pretty common. All in all it seems pretty good. Backplate runout on face was about.0002" and outside was.0001", very good.

Great 4 Jaw Chuck...

Excellent 4 jaw chuck. I placed this one on my 4th axis CNC. It installed without any issues.

If you fully disassemble and thoroughly clean it, it can be well worth the price. Depending on the normal size of your work is, it may require boring or grinding. After cleaning, mine had .009-.017” runout. After grinding it, I was able to bring that to .002”. Keep in mind, where you grind it will be where diameter is most accurate and tightening it in the same consistent manner will provide the most consistent results.

Arrived with a Crack in Cuck Body

Unfortunately, this chuck arrived with a crack in the chuck body. Make sure you thoroughly review it before use. Submitted a request for replacement or credit and have yet to get a response.

I thought that I would give this metal lathe chuck a try ran a tap in threaded holes then mounted the chuck to the backing plate installed it on the lathe. Now the test run the chuck clamped the round stock perfect now to check the run out .0015 . It will do the job Lathe is an old Atlas Clausing precision metal lathe

Nice Chuch but too much runout

It’s a nice Chuck for the money but mine had about 10 thousand runout. I converted it to a front mount set true now it it runs true. The plastic back plate when fully tightened made Chuck jaws very hard to open and close. I had to machine down the thickness to keep plate from rubbing on back plate.

I had read the unit some other buyers got had burrs everywhere. Mine came clean. No burrs. A very nice chuck. Quite accurate. The only thing they should do is make the back plate thicker to accommodate flush mounting the socket head fasteners to hold it to the chuck. That way there would not be any protruding bolt heads.

3 jaw 6" chuck

I am happy with this inexpensive chuck, but it would have been nice to know that when you remove it from the box, it comes in two pieces and it held together by the suction of oil, care is needed as one piece struck my foot, you will need some 8mm by 15mm set screws as it doesn't come with any for centering.

Concentricité et répétabilité du mandrin 6 mors

Reçu bon état avec tout ses accessoires dans un délais de 4 jours. Après nettoyage, remontage et meulage des mâchoires j'ai passé d'une concentricité entre 0.003-0.005 po à 0.0005 po répétable à l'intérieur de 0.0015 po.

Haven't mounted it yet

Haven't mounted it yet because I have to machine a L00 mounting plate. I inspected it for metal chips in the scroll and it was clean and well finished inside. The reversible jaws are well fitted. I will seal up the back plate which is plastic, with silicon where it mates in the center. I have found that to be a great way to keep trash and swarf from being flung out into the scroll and gears.

I have wanted a 6 Jaw Chuck for some time now, when I found this chuck on the brand I had to buy it. The first job was to dismantle, clean and inspect it and I was delighted that all the parts were clean and well finished. The chuck was easy to set and mount and has around.015mm TIR. Could we please have this offering in a 250mm version with a D11-8 backplate please.

This is a surprisingly good chuck. When I got it, the first thing I did was disassemble and clean it. There were no chips or grinding grit, but the oil was dirty (gritty?). The only thing this thing needs is about an hour of deburring, every edge was sharp. Using a 1 x 4" dowel pin, I was getting less than .002" runout, both at the chuck and 2-1/2" away. Buena construccion del mandril y de las garras intercambiables.Viene completo con la placa posterior para tornos con amarres rapidos aunque en mi caso no sirvio.Lo unico un poco negativo es que esta bastante duro abrir y cerrar las garras.

Plato 6 Mordazas Autocentrante

El mecanizado y la precisión es muy buena. Lo he montado en mi torno HBM 320x900 sin ningún problema. No obstante, recomiendo desmontarlas las mordazas y hacerles una limpieza a fondo y aceitarlas al vonver a instalarlas. He encontrado restos de virutas del mecanizado bajo las mordazas desmontables, que aunque no evitan que funcione bien, la limpieza el posterior aceitado es muy beneficioso. Asi mismo, he retirado la tapa posterior de plástico y aunque aquí si estaba limpio, he añadido más grasa a los engranajes para hacer la apertura y cierra de las mordazas mucho más suave y agradable.

Je cherchais depuis longtemps un Camlock D1 4 à prix abordable. Les mors sont un peu dur à ouvrir / fermer. Très bonne concentricité, vérifiée au comparateur à cadran et c'est le plus important. A noter : serrage minimal 11mm

I am an amateur, home shop machinist. I bought this chuck with the back plate and shipping included for less than $125.00, an outstanding value IMHO. The two-piece jaw configuration was a requirement and the source of some problems that may or may not affect your decision to purchase this chuck. If you purchase this chuck, be prepared to disassemble it and thoroughly clean and lubricate it. This one was FILTHY, but I expected it would be. After cleaning, a precision 0.5000 pin ran within 0.0020" TIR. , well within spec. I trued the back plate mounted on my lathe spindle (70-year-old South Bend 9-A) and turned the register boss to 0.0050" smaller than the register recess in the chuck body. The test pin repeats within 0.00050 after assembly and adjustment. Amazing IMHO! I removed the top jaws and cleaned the interfaces with the jaw base. Upon reassembly, I could not get the chuck adjusted any better than 0.015" TIR. I reground the key slot so the top jaws would actually seat properly. I will regrind the jaw faces under clamping load with a tool post grinder when I get time. In the meantime, I'm using machinable steel top jaws to hold some 2" diameter steel discs for turning, facing a…

Very good tool, runout was only .002 thousandth installed out of box. Very good for what I use it for. Neighbor bought a 4 inch to expand centrifugal clutches , I had to machine jaws thinner for unique tool use. The 4 inch was so nice it caught my attention so I ordered a 6 inch to put on one of my small lathes.
