I used it with a Stihl 310 and 18" bar to cut up some 12' pine logs. So far it has worked great. It's a bit tedious to adjust but the lumber I have cut so far has more then paid for the mill and the guide bar. Don't forget to get a ripping chain for your saw.

I absolutely love this device and have cut several boards with it but you have to be a little bit careful with the pressure between the wood and the machine as sometimes it causes the chain to jam or stop turning because of the pressure. If you are patient and take your time though the machine works fantastic for what it is.

I had one of these 20 years ago, this is just as good and a fraction of the price. Excellent value, has already paid for itself.

Use it with my Sthil MS881, with 48" bar, and it works very well. Remember to retighten nuts and bolts now and then. And do not overthighten.

Sturdy, perfect for its job.

I bought it because I have to cut a log into boards. I like it, it is very sturdy, it has a locking system on the tip that also includes a screw to prevent the blade from slipping. Unfortunately it arrived with the wrong piece. Too big. I had to make do on my own.

Invest in clutches

Or read techniques to keep from overheating them (or buy a bigger saw like I eventually did) not a problem with the mill It's a problem that comes from having a mill and thinking that's a nice big oak the wind took down, I think I'll plank it.

Lieferung war komplett und eigentlich ist der Zusammenbau selbsterklärend. Alle Schrauben/Gewinde sind OK. Beim Einstellen ist etwas Geduld gefragt, das Ergebnis kann sich dann aber sehen lassen! Stammdurchmesser 40 cm, Blattlänge 65 cm: Einige gute Bohlen gesägt. Für den Hobbybereich absolut zu empfehlen!

Great for the price

It is a nice saw mill with a very good price, it helped me cut a few oak logs into fairly nice planks. Unfortunately the cheap price shows a little bit on the quality where I managed to strip and break one of the screws for height adjustments and break one other bit on the second height adjustment bar. Both are replaceable so I just need to find a suitable replacement and it is not a big deal, but the screws could have been a bit hardier. On the other hand they go through aluminum so perhaps they must not be from a harder material? It would be great if the height adjustment was a bit easier to do, currently you need to loosen up 4 screws, set the new height on both height adjustments bars and tighten the screws back. If you do this often and with a messy saw mill covered in dust the screws suffer. But again for the very nice price it is a very good product. Just make sure your chainsaw bar is long enough as with 18" (45cm) bar your effective cut would be perhaps 12-13" (32cm).

Review

Works great, easy to assemble. Instructions are easy to follow, lots of pictures of the assembly process. Holds the bar well. I stripped the Philips head on two M5x40 bolts with the provided scrench tool, so I had to replace those. Zinc plating on the guard flakes off when bending but the part is lubricated by chain oil when cutting so I don't think it will rust.

Basic and simple

We found well packaged and all items in box. The chain guard gets bent into U shape and eye let holes slightly to fit see pictures. Set up to use with 24 inch bar. Schematic picture in rear of instructions does shoe handle wrong way however it should correct in assembly. After some trial uses one will find upgrading washers and nuts with locking. And an added rail system for more precise cuts and ease of use. Enjoy.

Montageprobleme

Nach der etwas länger dauernden Montage Nußbaum zu Brettern geschnitten. Die mitgeliefert Zeichnung ist nicht einfach zu verstehen. Die Bilder auf der Amazonseite sind widersprüchlich. An der Schutzabdeckung am Stern, Spitze, der Kettensäge mussten wir etwas nacharbeiten. Die Halterung wo die Schraube durchgeführt werden muß, ist falsch bemessen. Beim zusammenschrauben kam es zu keinem festen Kontakt auf der Führungsschiene. Etwas nachgeschliefen und es war alles gut. Die Maßeinheit auf der Einstellunng ist in Zoll, wenn man es weiß auch in Ordnung. Für den Preis ist die Halterung in Ordnung.

Good sturdy attachment

Love the quality build on this. One disappointment however as 1 part was missing. I had to manufacture my own piece. Part missing was the crossbar used to fasten the handle and add rigidity to the unit. Other than that I am happy with the purchase.

This product is awesome it came with all the pieces needed to put it together and works very well.Great for someone who wants to do this for a hobby or even to take to a remote location for sawing boards or lumber.The only fallback to this set up is that your chainsaw makes big cuts on 4/5 cuts you loose 1 inch of wood.Great product would recommend to anyone

Great product works well

Great product works well, on a 24 bar I was able to easily slab a 20 tree. Pick up a ripping chain and a couple wedges and you are making lumber. I suggest using a tape to gauge the cut for accurate slabs but once installed on a big saw its very easy to handle.

Fair bit of set up with wrench

Easily assembled. It is fairly sturdy when set up properly but you have to hand tighten each section and its somewhat cumbersome and time consuming. we managed to get nice straight cuts out of it. I feel it was worth the money.First time ever using an Alaskan chain saw mill. It is a fair amount of work on the saw so you need a good powerful one. It took us about 25 mins for a 6' long by 14' wide cut. We used a 20" bar and it was maxed out for width.

Inaccurate and Poor reviews or ratings

I recently started browsing through reviews before my more expensive internet buys, and i wish people would try to comment on the product they recieved more accurately.. because i will read 10 good reviews and see the couple really bad ones in between from people commenting out of anger because of a missing bolt or minor issues with the product..makes it hard for people to discern if they are buying a good product or not.

Instructions hurt my head

You know you have sold hundreds of these. Get someone to re do your instructions lol. Didn't take to long to put together off the pics though.The squared part of the bolts could be a bit deeper. But it seems to catch enough.Will edit once I try it out.

assembly was not hard. take your time. instructions were correct but drawings on assembly not the greatest. I have been using it for months to slab logs to make live edge cutting boards etc. no complaints. very good value. unit is light and not hard to use. Becareful that you dont place the nose clamp where it will bind your bar nose gear. get it centered. using one of these can be very dangerous being around the saw. play safe.
