Al comparar el precio de esta herramienta con el de una prensa de bola profesional para joyería, que ronda los 800 € o más, uno se pregunta qué podría fallar, pero no he encontrado ningún problema. Funciona a la perfección siempre que se mantenga limpia y en buen estado, lo cual es muy fácil: basta con aplicar un poco de aceite lubricante ligero donde sea necesario si se va a limar mucho, luego soplar el polvo y cuidarla bien. Quizás la prensa de 800 € esté hecha de materiales de mejor calidad, pero he probado ambas y, sinceramente, sería una tontería gastar tanto dinero en una prensa cuando esta funciona perfectamente para lo que la necesito. Quizás si se van a colocar diamantes u otras joyas preciosas, convenga revisarla, pero yo no he tenido ningún problema con ella, que consiste en cortar cobre y latón y usarla para sujetarlos mientras hago otras cosas como soldar o dar forma. No ha fallado en absoluto; solo hay que tener cuidado de soldar pequeñas cantidades con un soplete muy pequeño, y digo pequeño, porque de lo contrario se dañará la prensa. Reitero que es perfecta para lo que quiero hacer con ella. Para cualquier grabado, esta es una herramienta indispensable para un joyer…

Nice, but you WILL need to use up a pint or two of degreaser.

Let's be honest. It's from China. It is covered with a thin, but very smelly, coat of chinesium. The base looks like a small, real rubber, industrial, tire, and smells JUST LIKE the PA farmshow. ( which is NOT a bad thing. You know if you know...) You WILL need to thoroughly clean and degrease this thing, cause it smells horrible, the grease will get all over EVERYTHING. I had to take it to pieces, and washed it off with brakleen. Both to get the grease off, and to clean off an AWFUL LOT of small chips, which were grinding inside the vise ways and screw. It was VERY crunchy. Once you get it clean, well, mine is fairly smooth, and will likely wear in over time. The fit on the pin-pieces is blond one tight. They wouldn't actually go in until after I washed all the machining grit off. AGAIN, this is NOT a negative. The 5 inch I got is machined to very tight tolerances. I don't own another vise like this, and won't be getting another one until someone shows me something 5 times better. Which I don't see happening soon.

Es scheint sich um Sandgussteile zu handeln, die nach dem Fräsen der Laufflächen direkt vernickelt wurden. Die Passungen lassen wirklich zu wünschen übrig, und die Feststellung der Rotation hat etwas gewackelt. Es passen auch nicht alle Teile richtig in den Zubehör-Halter. Ich habe das ganze Ding gleich so weit es ging demontiert und vom dicken, bräunlichen Fett befreit. Überall habe ich mit einer Feile entgratet und kleine Gussdefekte korrigiert (die Vernickelung ist dort jetzt natürlich durch). Die Laufflächen haben alle ein Teflon-Gleitband draufbekommen, sodass sie nun fast spielfrei sind. Bedenkt aber, wie viel Spiel die Passung vorher hatte, dass auf beiden Seiten eine Schicht von diesem Band dazwischen passt (2x 0,13 mm)! Der Drehmechanismus ist unter einer Zweilochmutter mit Außengewinde (!) verborgen, für die ich schnell einen passenden Stirnloch-/Zapfenschlüssel (30 mm) 3D-drucken musste. Darunter kam mir ein größerer Span entgegen, womöglich noch vom Gewindeschneiden, der wahrscheinlich irgendwie das Verdrehspiel verursacht hat. Die wichtigsten Zubehörteile (für mich die Backen mit den kleineren Löchern und die Ringhalter) haben ebenfalls signifikantes Spiel, wenn sie ei…

This Ball Vice is a great item for jewellery making. It is quite heavy but it needs to be for effectiveness. The 'extras' make the ball vice a completely useful bench tool.

I have used this a couple of times for engraving. I like the weight and the ability to manipulate its holding stance.

Micro block ball vice 3inch

I'm really happy with this ball vice. It's great quality for the price and comes with full set of attachments. If they had a 5 inch version if would have got that one, but the smaller vice feels comfortable in the hands and moves smoothly.

Sturdy Ball Vise

This is the larger Ball Vise, its heavy and appears to have all the features you would require, as a hobby jeweller I am happy with the purchase, folks with smaller hands might consider the 3" Ball Vise, it looks very well made, and should last longer than I will.

extraordinary value for the money

I use a GRS Positioning Vice for my engraving work (lists for $1,325.00 USD before taxes and shipping). When GRS came out with their Micro Block (lists for $375 USD or $503.39 Canadian before taxes and shipping) I wanted one but just couldn't justify the price for something that I couldn't use for engraving. I can't imagine using the Micro Block for hammer and chisel work under a microscope, it's just not heavy enough for me. I just received this 3"ball. It's very very cute and I'm impressed by the quality/price of this item. I bought it because I want to fully engrave it as a showpiece to display engraved jewellery. The attachments included are a big bonus. This really isn't an engravers engraving ball but it may well work for stone setting, maybe. This is a wonderful miniature collectable and you should think of it as just that. My recommendation is to buy this as a cute show piece and buy a proper large ball vice for actual work. I started with an inexpensive heavy weight off-shore ball vice and upgraded to the GRS standard vice and then to the GRS positioning vice.

The parts are fitting little loose and jaw's to,but with with a little work and a patent from me it work nice...! also the coating from the ballvise starting off on the first week of use, so i took it off and use it with the naturale color of iron and periodically put-on protection from antitrust WD 40 and that's it...!

The replacement deserves *****

First order off the brand and it didn't look too promising. We all know that with Chinese equipment you'll need to lavish a little TLC to get it running sweet. But...there is a limit as to how much TLC you should be expected to part with. As you can see in the JPEGs the finished item had escaped the quality control department. Though this is not down to the brand in any way. What is down to the brand is the spectacular way in which Matar at the brand handled the problem. After a couple of emails to ascertain the main problem, a new Ball Vice appeared on my door step.This replacement is absolutely fine. Incredibly smooth in operation. A pleasure to use. So...5***** for the replacement Ball Vice and 10********** for Marta and the brand for customer service!

Definitely worth the money!

I have used this more than a few times now and have to say that while it might not be the EXTREMELY expensive name brand, it does a pretty admirable job for the price. I will need to adapt a few work arounds for some of the tools that it doesn't have,but it has really come in handy! It has a substantial weight and I am still discovering all the things it can help with. I have had to look up some videos about the name brand so that I have a better understanding of all the things it should help with and have found that to be the easiest way to sort out it's pro's and cons. I will need to adapt a clamp bar that I can embed a ring into for pave' work .Overall very happy with my purchase.

The vice is well made. The attachments are the same as the GRC so if you wear them out you can upgrade the attachments by buying better-made ones.

newbie opinion

Not sure I'm qualified to rate this vise as I've never owned a block vise before. So, take my words with a grain of salt. Wow, it's heavier than I expected. This is a good thing--the work does not move unless I want it to. The vise grips securely and evenly and keeps its grip. All of the accessories are of good quality. I'm very pleased with this vise.
