A great cable for deck railing

This wire rope/cable is very appropriate for deck railing systems. I am going to be using it just for that purposes. I will explain below. I have done a few cable projects and haven't really thought about the cable too much until I examined this cable in more detail. Most of my cable has many more strands for this thickness. As I was bending this wire rope, it seemed more stiff than usual. That is when I realized the difference. With my other cable, the additional strands, provided some additional flex in the cable i.e. going around a pulley for example. As a result, I can appreciated this design a little more for straight cabling purposes. The reason this will perform better for a deck railing is the less, but thicker wires, will not break as easy per individual strand. Once a wire breaks, you now have a compromised railing or in the very least a place where an injury can occur by getting snagged on a broken strand. This cable is much smoother to the touch and would be safer for children and pets. The cutter did an adequate job of cutting the cable without issue. Really nice high quality twisted and coated wire

This is some good heavy, quality 1/8-in wire. I did not buy it to use on a porch, but I'm sure it would be great for that use. Instead I'm using it around the interior of an outbuilding we built to be able to hang things off of it and between them for storage. It is excellent for that purpose, and would be great for a wide variety of projects. The fact that they give you a cutter so that you don't have to use another tool you may have or have to buy another one is another great plus. The wire is high quality and a great value from my perspective. I'm a big fan of this company in general as they make good quality products at reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

Nice wire rope!

Great wire rope! It is good quality woven wire from the looks of it. It is a nice touch having added the cable cutter, makes it super easy to use. The rope is a good value for the money and can be used for many applications. It is quite versatile, I plan on using it in my tomato row in my garden and when I build a trellis for muscadine grapes this fall. Great stuff!

Boat Lift Cable

I used this cable to re-string my compound pully boat lift cradle. The previous stainless steel cable from Lowes lasted about 6 years. Time will tell if this cable lasts a similar amount of time.

Good build quality wire cable w/ included cutters

Quality cable measured at the 1/8" thickness you'd expect. Feels very durable and versatile. For the price per foot, the value for money is hard to argue with. Also nice that it includes a cable cutter.

Very nice cable

I used this for 160’ of railing. The cable was perfect for this purpose. The 3/16” 1X9 configuration is a little stiffer than others and worked out really well as you can see on the picture. The one thing I really liked is that there’s very little stretching during the installation so you cut the cable where you need it to be once the dome nut is installed on the terminal fitting. You really don’t need to torque the crap out of the nut to achieve the right tension in the cable. It also looks good.

My husband picked this wire rope up to use as a tomato trellis, which is probably not what the engineers had in mind when they designed a cable with a 1760 pound breaking strength. Perfect for deck rail

We used this rope for the deck surround railing. Turned out beautiful. The rope was flexible and easily routed through posts. Using turnbuckles for tension made these rails tight and secure.

Used for horse pasture fence over the weekend. Ran through posts no problem and no knotting or catching. Does spring loose from the spool very easily due to being 1x19 strand, stay back as you cut the plastic wrap keeping it closed (learned the hard way on this one , it stings). The fence looks amazing and my horses can easily see it. Easily pulled tight across an acre just by using our hands, when paired with turnbuckles we got an great tension. So far a little stretching out, but super minimal.

I used this cable with a third party cable railing system for my new deck railing. The cable worked perfectly with the fittings which seem to have a very close tolerance. The cable sold by the cable system supplier cost nearly twice as much as this cable which has the same specifications. The project turned out great and I would definitely use this cable again.

Quality and strength

This is the perfect cable for hanging mist line on outdoors. It is super strong and easy to work with. I use a small pair of bolt cutters to cut it. Turnbuckle and crimp eyes at the ends to tighten it very straight on a 60 foot plus run. I won't use anything else.
